5 lb. 13 oz.

Look what God did!!! Isn't she precious???
She's now two months old, but she was 5 weeks early, so that works out to about...3 1/2 weeks? Anyway, she weighs a hefty 10 lb. 7 oz. now.

We've had a fun week...my aunt and sis were here to spoil everyone. I hadn't seen my aunt for 12 years...since before I got married. We had a wonderful time and I'm so glad she came!!

All the kiddos... (almost)

Leslie got glasses a couple of weeks ago. She looks so grown up...

I hope I can figure out how to post this. I'm blog-illiterate!

We are planning on starting the new school year on Monday! Yes, we're a little crazy. But I'm hoping to be less crazy next year and take Fridays off. Yes, OFF!! Let's go to the library, or on a field trip, or do some art, or piano, or just play some games together!

Hi Lisa, love you!!

Of Presidents and Policies

President Trump is the president of the country we live in, and as Christians, it is our duty to obey and support and pray for him, and to show him respect. I support Trump in this way, and I’m also thankful  to the Lord for His grace to us in the good policies enacted and actions taken that support biblical morality. As a Christian, I’m grateful for the fact that the Lord has used even an ungodly man to uphold values that are biblical in nature, which reflect godliness. However, I believe Christians tend to stray off track when we begin to act as though Christian values in policy and law has something to do with the godliness of our country in general. Christian values don’t save anyone. Individual hearing of the gospel, repentance, and believing change hearts. Policy doesn’t drive people to Christ. Faithful proclamation of the gospel is what we are called to do and to pursue. Why do Christians spend so much time actively pursuing and speaking on and pushing Christian valu...

Persuaders or Proclaimers?

A fantastic preacher named Smedly Yates preached at our church last Sunday. Our regular pastor was at a conference, and as Pastor Yates grew up at our church and has family here, he graciously came here from Tempe, AZ, where he pastors a church, and spent the weekend—first preaching to the men at a Saturday morning breakfast, then feeding us the Word on both Sunday morning and evening. And boy, were we fed. He preached from 1 Corinithians 1 and 2…on the foolishness and power of both the gospel message (morning sermon) and the method of bare proclamation (evening). This post is borne out of that evening message, and I’m going to quote liberally and shamelessly from my notes (I’ll share links to both messages at the end of this post). This sermon was EXCELLENT. One of the best things about it was that he put his finger directly on one of the biggest problems with modern churches today, besides false doctrine/watered-down, erroneous, eisegetical preaching (that which uses...

Contentment from the Roots

I just read a blog post by a mom who decided to get rid of ALL of her childrens' toys. She loved the results...less mess, less fighting, more creativity, more appreciation for experiences, more contentment. Or so it appeared. On one hand, I would LOVE to do that. I would love to get rid of the constant messes. I would love to encourage more creative play and see my children get along better and be more content. I might even be less frustrated and more content. Right?  I'm not convinced that this is the way to go about developing true contentment. From the heart contentment. It seems to me that this would merely serve to hide the real gaping problem of ingratitude under a Band-Aid. First, if my children aren't believers, they will never experience true contentment, no matter how it may appear on the outside. It might last a little while...but their human, sinful hearts will always want something ELSE that they don't already have, wh...
